12/3/2008 - MURDER OF SAN JUAN BUSINESSMAN JUAN GARZA

Witnesses told police they saw a white Grand Marquis with a partial Texas license plate number of "739" driving by Juan Garza`s business immediately after he was shot there on Dec. 3. The vehicle had a loud muffler tip and it was occupied by a young male.

Police are also looking for a male subject in his 20s who was seen driving a blue mini van that day. Witnesses told police he was arguing with Garza on the day of the murder at a Subway restaurant in San Juan.

The shooter, believed to be in his mid-20s, has been described as 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build and was last seen wearing a white shirt and jeans. He was last seen running into some orchards near Garza`s business, and authorities believe he had been driving a dark Toyota Camry.

The shooter approached Juan Garza about 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at his business, Amigo Propane, and asked him to fill his gas tank, according to a shop employee who was there at the time. The would-be customer then asked Garza for money and shot him..

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the San Juan Police Department at (956) 787-9904 or the Crime Stopper`s line at (956) 283-TIPS. The department is offering a cash reward for anyone with information on the case.
